HIGH-SPEED HAVOC: Teen Suspects Nabbed After Dramatic Pursuit Sparks Rush-Hour Destruction

A pair of teens have been arrested following a dramatic police chase on the M1 motorway that spanned from the NSW Central Coast to the Hawkesbury River region, damaging at least five cars.

The pursuit began at about 7am, during peak-hour traffic, when police patrolling the M1 motorway in Palmdale spotted a station wagon that had been reported stolen earlier on Wednesday heading north. Witnesses say at least five cars were during the carnage

Police gave chase on the busy highway after the car failed to stop. However, they aborted the pursuit shortly after due to safety concerns.

About an hour later, the same station wagon was seen by police heading in the opposite direction near Calga, about 20 minutes from where it was first spotted.

A second pursuit began shortly after, and road spikes were deployed just south of the Berowra off-ramp, which did little to slow the speeding station wagon.

The pursuit continued, and the two teenagers inside the station wagon allegedly began tossing objects from the vehicle.

As it tried to evade police, the car allegedly smashed into five other vehicles before the chase finally ended about 1km south of the Ku-ring-gai Chase on-ramp at Cowan.

One witness told 9News the car had smashed into several other vehicles right in front of her before she saw “at least 30 police cars” surround it.

“I’m not sure how it continued to go down the road, but it eventually ended up going about 10 kilometres down the road,” she said. The two teenagers allegedly inside the vehicle have been arrested.
