Prince Harry’s Invictus Games has made an announcement ahead of the sporting events’ return to the UK next year. Launched by the Duke of Sussex in London in 2014, the international multi-sport event for wounded, injured and sick military service personnel will be held in Birmingham in 2027.
Today, Invictus Games Birmingham has announced ATCO, a Canadian company specialising in energy, housing and defence, as the international flag partner. A statement on the news read: “The partnership reflects a shared hope for lasting connections, continued impact, and support that extends beyond the Games themselves, for the wounded, injured and sick at heart, and for the communities in Birmingham and the West Midlands that will welcome them.”

The Flag is already making its way from Canada, the last host of the biennial sporting event, to Birmingham. A series of expedition challenges is ensuring its safe passage to the UK city.
Currently, the Full Circle Sailing Expedition is under way. Commencing in March, over 70 WIS Service personnel and veterans are undertaking a 2,000 nautical mile sailing expedition around the UK, stopping at 23 ports.
From the middle of June, the Beyond the Summit Mountaineering Climb will see around 120 Armed Forces WIS conquer 52 iconic peaks and summits of the British Isles over 12 days.
Next May, the Three Peaks Hiking Challenge will commence with around 200 people from the Armed Forces WIS, serving military and cadets, looking to conquer their part of the 42km challenge.
The final event will see members of the Armed Forces tackle a 1200km cycling and climbing challenge, stopping at 13 military bases and the National Memorial Gardens.
Prince Harry is set to return to the UK for the one-year-to-go ceremony this summer, though his team have yet to officially confirm this.
