Police have confirmed the death of 29-year-old rapper Dugulth Darian Denver Ferreira—also known as Junior King—following a fatal head-on collision on the N1 near Verkeerdevlei earlier today, Thursday December 11.

According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thabo Covane, emergency services were dispatched at around 07:25 after a light truck and a grey Volkswagen Polo TSI collided on the national road. Responders found that the vehicles had crashed head-on, resulting in one fatality. Ferreira was declared dead at the scene.

According to police, the Polo had been travelling southbound towards Bloemfontein when it collided with the northbound truck headed for Winburg.

There were four passengers and a driver inside the Polo. Ferreira, who had been seated behind the driver alongside two children, sustained fatal injuries. The children and the front-seat passenger were transported to Pelonomi Trauma Hospital with moderate injuries. Both drivers emerged unharmed.

Police have opened a case of culpable homicide at the Verkeerdevlei Police Station.

Officers later visited family members at the hospital, where Ferreira’s identity was formally confirmed by his sister.

He released his latest music album, My Revenge on social media platforms less than a week ago.
