Chilling footage emerges of moment gun drawn in fatal Merrylands West shooting
Shocking CCTV footage appears to show the moment a gun was fired outside a Sydney home where a man was killed.
A man was shot dead in the doorway of a Merrylands West home on Wednesday afternoon, with police investigating whether it was a case of mistaken identity.
CCTV footage released on social media appears to show a car turning right at an intersection before stopping outside the house, where a gun is then seen emerging from the passenger window and a shot is fired.

Emergency services were called to Bruce St about 3.15pm after reports of the gunfire.
Police found a man in his 40s with gunshot wounds and began first aid, including CPR, before paramedics took over. He was later declared dead at the scene.
Superintendent Simon Glassow revealed the victim did not live at the address and may have arrived only minutes before he was shot.

Police believe the man was known to people at the property, but Superintendent Glassow said the victim himself was not known to police.
“The victim has no links that we are aware of to organised crime, however he has associated with people that reside at this address,” Superintendent Glassow said.
“He was shot in the doorway of the premises.”

Investigators are now examining whether the gunmen were actually targeting somebody else connected to the home.
“It’s very early on in the investigation, however tragically that is a possibility that the wrong person has been shot by these offenders,” Superintendent Glassow said.
Police revealed people linked to the Bruce St address are “well known to police” and have “links to Sydney organised crime”, which will form part of the investigation.
Describing the attack as brazen, Superintendent Glassow said it happened near schools and parks at a busy time of day.
“This is a highly dangerous and reckless act that’s been carried out here on a public street,” he said.
Detectives have reviewed CCTV and identified a grey Audi sedan seen leaving the scene soon after the shooting, heading west on Bruce St.
Police are urging anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers or Cumberland detectives.

The fatal shooting came just a day after 23-year-old university student Marco Tapia was killed inside his Glen Alpine home, marking the second deadly shooting in Sydney this week.
Detectives have since indicated they are investigating whether he too was killed in a case of mistaken identity, with police confirming Mr Tapia had no criminal ties.
The shooting happened in the early hours of Tuesday morning while Mr Tapia’s family was at home.
His death sparked an outpouring of grief, with floral tributes growing outside the family home and loved ones describing him as innocent and undeserving of the violence.
Members of the local MMA community also paid tribute, remembering him as a dedicated athlete and a good person.
“The fact that what appears to be an innocent life was taken yesterday is something that no community should accept, and no community should live in fear of violence,” Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said.
