A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after another teenager’s hand was almost severed in an alleged attack in an inner Sydney suburb.

A 15-year-old has been charged after allegedly nearly hacking off another teenager’s hand in a knife attack in inner Sydney.

Police were called to Redfern Oval at about 6pm on Wednesday, where they found a 17-year-old-boy with an almost completely severed hand.

Officers were told the wounded boy had allegedly been assaulted by another boy with a knife in a carpark on Morehead Rd.

The 17-year-old boy was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.

At about 12.15am Thursday, police stopped a vehicle on Redfern Street and arrested a 15-year-old boy a short time later nearby.

He has since been charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and breaching bail.

The teenager was refused bail to appear before a children’s court on Thursday.
