From tennis to rugby to cricket, the royals are passing their love for sports to their kids

It’s no secret that Prince William and wife Princess Kate enjoy a sporting event.

Kate Middleton, who is the Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club where Wimbledon is held each year, has made sure to catch a match or two since she was assigned the role in 2016. The Princess of Wales even brought the crowd to its feet when she attended the Wimbledon men’s final in 2024, amid her cancer recovery.

The Princess of Wales isn’t alone in her devotion to sports, as Prince William has also been pictured on several occasions cheering in the stands at various sporting events. In fact, the heir to the British throne has been quite open about his love for the football club, Aston Villa.

It seems like the Waleses have taken their love for sports to the next level and are now passing it to their children. Prince George and Princess Charlotte have attended several games with their parents. (Prince Louis, who’s only 7 years old, is yet to attend as he is still too young for the exciting events.)

After months away from the public due to some health issues, Kate Middleton made a rare appearance at the men’s final Wimbledon Tennis Championships on July 14, 2024. Princess Charlotte adorably looked on as the crowd gave the Princess of Wales a standing ovation.
