CCTV footage shows the 12-year-old talking to friends just moments earlier.

A driver has been identified after a schoolboy was seriously injured when he was allegedly clipped by a ute.

The 12-year-old boy was struck on Milperra Road between Edgar Street and Mons Road in Revesby, Sydney’s southwest, about 3.20pm on Monday.

CCTV footage shows the boy talking to three friends before appearing to step onto the busy road.

He was then allegedly clipped by a passing car and fell to the ground.

The orange or gold-coloured Nissan Navara allegedly continued driving and did not stop.

Police were told the boy was hit by the rear passenger side of the ute, and investigators believe the driver may not have realised a collision had occurred.

The boy was treated at the scene before being taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

In an update on Wednesday, police said the 50-year-old driver presented himself at Bankstown Police Station on Tuesday night after the public appeal for information.
