EXCLUSIVE: Where Is Javeayah Harris’ Newborn Sister Now? Family Friend Reveals Who Is Caring for the Baby After the 4-Year-Old’s Tragic De-ath

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – A close friend of Javeayah Harris’ paternal grandmother says the family is grieving while trying to move forward after the death of the 4-year-old.

In a WIS News 10 exclusive, our Billie Jean Shaw sat down with Justin Singletary. He has been in daily contact with Javeayah’s grandmother, the mother of Javeayah’s father, Johmarea Harris.

According to Singletary, the grandmother now has custody of the newborn baby Johmarea Harris and Michilae Herring share.

Harris and Herring remain in custody on homicide charges in connection with the death of their 4-year-old daughter, Javeayah Harris.

“She’s definitely hurt. She’s devastated,” Singletary said while describing the grandmother’s emotional state.

Singletary said he grew up in Great Falls, where Javeayah’s parents are from, and has known both sides of the family for years.

“It’s a small town, one stoplight—so we fellowship together and pretty much knew both sides of the family,” he said. “You can raise a child. We all know that. You can have good parents. All kinds of things can happen during a child’s life, but once that child becomes an adult, you never know.”

He said the grandmother is not only grieving the loss of her granddaughter but is also now caring for her newborn granddaughter.

To help, Singletary is organizing a community donation drive on Saturday, July 11, to collect baby supplies, including diapers, clothing, and other essential items.

“We’re collecting baby items for Baby Harris,” Singletary said. “We’re asking the community for diapers, clothes, anything that can help because this grandmother is grieving the loss of a grandchild, dealing with the situation involving her own child, and raising a new grandbaby.”

Singletary said he hopes the community will rally around the grandmother during what he described as one of the most difficult times of her life.

The drive in Columbia is Saturday, July 11, at Devine Oasis Salon and Spa, 224 O’Neil Court, Suite 12, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There is also another donation drop-off in Great Falls on Sunday, July 19, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., at Salt of the Earth, an event center located at 2 Underwood Ave.
