MILEY CYRUS’ HEARTBREAKING FAREWELL TO DOLLY PARTON AS COUNTRY MUSIC ICON DI-ES AFTER CANCER BATTLE
MILEY Cyrus has penned an emotional tribute to her beloved godmother Dolly Parton, saying she will always have an “angel by my side”.
The Queen of Country died yesterday aged 80 after a short battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy that has touched musicians and fans across the globe.

An emotional Miley, 33, posted a touching farewell message to “Aunt Dolly” on social media saying: “I will always love her and want to make her proud.”
The tribute read: “The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share. Our most sacred moments were private and they’ll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour & between our hearts.
“What I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong. I have an angel by my side. I always have. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis.
“I will always love her and want to make her proud. My heart breaks for the world, her family and friends who will miss her deeply. We’re in this loss together and we will see her in all of the most beautiful things.”
Miley’s dad, Billy Ray, and Dolly had been close friends after Cyrus’s country anthem “Achy Breaky Heart” soared to the top of the charts in 1992.
That same year, the pair embarked on a tour together and eventually grew so close that Billy asked the country superstar to be Miley’s godmother.

Miley and Dolly had an incredibly close bond and would go on to share the stage and studio several times over the years.
They collaborated most recently in January on a reimagining of Dolly’s 1977 hit Light of a Clear Blue Morning.
The Jolene singer once confessed to Good Morning America that she loves Miley as if she were “one of her own”.
Dolly said: “I’ve known her since she was a baby. Her father’s a friend of mine, and when she was born, he said, ‘You just have to be her godmother,’ and I said, ‘I accept.’
She added: “We never did do a big ceremony, but I’m so proud of her, love her and she’s just like one of my own.”
Dolly defended Miley when she attracted controversy for her new look and musical style in the early 2010s.
She told the Sunday Times: “Back in the day, doing my own things my own way, and dressing sexy and showing my cleavage and all that, I got a lot of criticism.
“Lots of people thought I was making a mistake and that I was just trashy, which I was…
“So I did go through that, but I don’t give her advice. Everyone has to walk this journey according to their own rules. That’s what she’s doing. And I lurve her.”
Billy Ray posted his own tribute on Tuesday saying Dolly had recently “sent me a beautiful message, telling me she loved me with her whole heart.”
He recalled the funny moment he apologised to Dolly for “having an affair with her”.
Dolly’s nephew Bryan Seaver announced her death in a heartbreaking statement on her official Instagram page Tuesday afternoon, shocking her fans worldwide.
The beloved singer died in the hospital on Tuesday, sending shockwaves around the world.
Dolly had been struggling with her health for some time before her passing and was forced to bow out of numerous gigs.
But during her last public appearance, Dolly appeared upbeat at the unveiling of her new Nashville truck stop.
And just one week before her death, she shared about her excitement to open a new museum in her very last post.
