Snoop Dogg brushed off his New Year’s Eve special being pulled by NBC as he posed for a photo with Al Pacino.

The rapper’s New Year’s Eve special was dramatically cancelled by the broadcaster and Peacock, months after he faced backlash for saying he was ‘scared’ of bringing his kids to the movies because of LGBTQ characters.

Snoop, 54, real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr, looked casual in a black jacket, black trousers and a chunky silver chain as he enjoyed a night out with the actor, 85, on Sunday.

Al looked in happy spirits as he gave the thumbs up, before the duo smiled for a group snap.

Alongside the post, Snoop penned: ‘Godfather. And Doggfather’.

It comes after the rapper’s two-hour NYE program, which had been announced at the NBCUniversal Upfront in May, was cancelled. It was scheduled to air live from Miami, Florida, on December 31 at 10.30pm.

The show had been described as a ‘once-in-a-lifetime New Year’s Eve event’ and had been slated to include ‘showstopping performances all night long leading up to midnight’, on top of appearances from ‘some of the biggest stars.’

Snoop addressed the axe in a statement last month.

‘Sometimes the calendar gets in the way of the celebration, which is why my NBC family and I decided this winter was time for us all to focus on the Olympics,’ he told Deadline.

‘But don’t worry, we’ll party together bigger and better later in 2026. Ya dig.’

NBCUniversal announced in September that Snoop, who had been front and center of the network’s Summer Olympics coverage, will be back on duty for the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.

The opening ceremony is due to take place on February 6, and the closing ceremony is on February 22.

The dramatic cancelation comes three months after Snoop sparked backlash over his criticism of LGBTQ+ representation in Disney and Pixar’s 2022 animated film Lightyear.

In August, the rapper said he was ‘scared to go to the movies’ after being blindsided by a same-sex couple in the film.

Weeks later, Snoop clarified his stance and stressed that he is an ally.

‘All my gay friends [know] what’s up, they been calling me with love,’ he wrote under a Hollywood Unlocked clip of T.S. Madison calling him out.

‘My bad for not knowing the answers for a six-year-old. Teach me how to learn. I’m not perfect.’

He added that his earlier comments reflected his confusion while trying to respond to questions from his grandson during a family outing.

‘I was just caught off guard and had no answer for my grandsons,’ he said, insisting, ‘all’ his ‘gay friends know’ he supports the LGBTQ community.

While appearing on the It’s Giving podcast later that month, Snoop described feeling overwhelmed when his grandson asked how a female character in Lightyear had a baby with another woman.
