Netflix has confirmed that the military sci-fi series will welcome back leading man Alan Ritchson alongside director Patrick Hughes.
Director Hughes, whose previous credits include The Hitman’s Bodyguard and The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, will be penning the screenplay with James Beaufort.
According to Variety, details surrounding the War Machine sequel’s storyline remain under wraps, though the original film concluded on an uncertain note.
War Machine wrapped up with the extra-terrestrial machine being vanquished after 81 lured it into a quarry ambush.
However, a news bulletin hints at an impending alien invasion following the discovery of numerous pods – resembling the one housing the deadly robot that 81 confronted – scattered across the globe.
This indicates there are significantly more of these alien machines to combat.
Furthermore, the news bulletin revealed that thousands of additional pods were en route to Earth, necessitating a worldwide defensive strategy.
