A heartbreaking new revelation has emerged in the case involving a 15-year-old Illinois girl accused of helping carry out a shooting that left five members of her own family dead.

Marcus May, the girl’s father, says investigators later told him his name was allegedly included on a list of intended targets before the attack. Yet in a twist he still struggles to understand, several relatives who ultimately lost their lives were reportedly not on that list.

As prosecutors continue pursuing the case, May says he is left wondering why some family members were spared while others became victims.

Speaking publicly for the first time, Marcus May described learning that he had allegedly been one of the intended targets as one of the most difficult moments since the tragedy.

According to May, authorities informed him that investigators recovered what they believe was a target list connected to the alleged planning of the attack.

While his own name was reportedly included, he says some of the relatives who were killed were not.

That detail has only deepened the questions surrounding what happened inside the family before the violence unfolded.

The shooting shocked the East St. Louis community after five relatives lost their lives and two others survived with injuries.

Prosecutors allege the 15-year-old girl and her 16-year-old boyfriend, Ja’ymeir Davis, planned and carried out the attack together.

Both teenagers face multiple serious charges, including first-degree murder. The allegations remain before the courts, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Searching for Answers That May Never Come

For Marcus May, the legal proceedings are only one part of the story.

He says he continues asking himself why certain family members became victims while others did not.

Even knowing investigators’ theory about the alleged target list has not eased the grief.

Instead, it has created even more unanswered questions about motive, planning and the final moments before the tragedy unfolded.

As the criminal case moves forward, May says he simply hopes the truth eventually emerges—both for the relatives he lost and for the family still trying to understand how everything changed so suddenly.
