She’s Only 18…: Rising Australian Golf Star Jessica Bang Fights for Her Life on Life Support as Family Prays for a Miracle
Rising Australian golf star Jessica Bang, 18, is on life support after collapsing from a “devastating” brain haemorrhage while preparing for a tournament in Bangkok, Thailand.
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been started to help cover her “overwhelming” medical bills and repatriation back to Australia.
On August 1, the young golfer suddenly collapsed and was rushed to Synphat Ramintra Hospital in Bangkok to undergo emergency brain surgery.
Almost a fortnight later, she remains on life support in the ICU.

Her family and loved ones are trying desperately to raise funds so she can be brought home to be surrounded by her community during her uncertain recovery process.
Known fondly as “Rookie Bang”, she was described as an aspiring athlete who recently qualified for her rookie season in the WPGA/KLPGA.
In February, Bang won the Ford NSW Regional Championship in Moss Vale, NSW, and had a promising future as a professional golfer.
Jacob Kang, Bang’s uncle, shared the fundraiser on his personal Facebook and explained the painful situation surrounding his niece’s medical expenses.
“When she turned 18, she chose Australian citizenship, which unfortunately made her Korean residency/status and travel insurance situation quite complicated,” he wrote.
“As a result, her medical treatment and related expenses are becoming a huge financial burden for the family.”

More than $25,000 has been raised in just two days.
Australian Golf Digest paid tribute to Bang on social media and rallied sport fans to support the young star.
“The thoughts of the entire Australian golf community are with Jessica Bang and her family,” the Digest wrote.
In February, Bang told Golf NSW her breakthrough win “doesn’t feel real yet”.
“I’m so happy, I can’t even put it into words,” she said just six months ago.
