A Sunshine Coast family is mourning the “unimaginable loss” of their “precious little boy” after he was accidentally hit by a car on a private property.
Emergency services were called to the home in Sippy Downs about 4.30pm on Monday after reports that a toddler had been struck by a vehicle.
Queensland Ambulance Service said the one-year-old, now identified as Elijah Gosden, had suffered “significant traumatic injuries” and was unable to be saved.
On Tuesday, a GoFundMe page was organised by the family’s friend, Teagan Elliott, to support the Gosdens while they “navigate an unimaginable loss”.
The fundraiser has already received $19,000 in donations in less than 24 hours.

“Little Elijah was tragically taken from his family in a devastating accident,” Ms Elliott wrote.
“No parent should ever have to experience the pain of losing their precious child and there are simply no words that can truly describe the heartbreak his family is going through right now.”
Ms Elliott described Elijah as a “beautiful little boy” and said his parents Beau and Brooke Gosden faced an incredibly difficult time ahead.
“Elijah was a beautiful little boy whose life was taken far too soon,” she wrote.
“His family are now left trying to navigate an unimaginable loss while also facing the practical and financial pressures that come with such a sudden tragedy.”
Ms Elliott told News24.com.au that Elijah was the middle child of three, with one brother and sister.
She thanked members of the community who had already shown support, saying that the GoFundMe would enable the whole family to focus on grieving.
“I have started this GoFundMe to help take some of that financial burden away from Elijah’s family, so they can focus on grieving, saying goodbye to their beautiful boy, and being there for one another, including supporting Elijah’s siblings through this incredibly difficult time,” she said.
“Any money raised will help the family with funeral and farewell costs, time away from work, household expenses, and other unexpected costs that arise during this heartbreaking time.
“No amount is too small.”
Local councillor Christian Dickson said it was distressing to understand that a young child had died.
“This is devastating for the family,’’ he said.
“As a father with a toddler, this hits home and makes you hold your loved ones tighter.
“Thinking of those involved in this difficult time.”
