I’M A CELEB viewers have slammed former boxer David Haye online after his “poor effort” in last night’s bushtucker trial.

The former heavyweight champion David Haye took on a gruesome challenge alongside fellow campmate Craig Charles last night, named ‘The Revolving Ball of Fear.”

The pair were strapped into a large revolving ball while Ant and Dec fired questions at them.

They weren’t alone in there, as creepy crawlies were soon dumped on their heads as their seats turned.

Mid-way through the trial, David shouted “I’ve got maggots in my mouth!”, which led to co-star Craig retching throughout the challenge.

The two of them came away with 5 meals for camp, however David’s performance in the trial left viewers at home particularly unimpressed.

One viewer wrote on Reddit: “He calls others weak at trials but I haven’t seen him try at all in the ones he’s done other than the first one when they came on the show.”

“If anyone has the right to feel aggrieved it is Craig because David would have scored ZERO STARS without him there.”

One comment read: “There was a point in the trial where he had a teddy over his face to prevent bugs getting on his face and in his mouth while poor Craig was shouting out the answers while gagging and being sick.”

“He calls others weak at trials but I haven’t seen him try at all in the ones he’s done other than the first one when they came on the show.”

Another fan chimed up and said: “For someone who is competitive and wants to win he’s been useless, he didn’t win against Adam and Craig and tonight he barely answered anything and let Craig do most of it.”

This backlash isn’t new, after David has already been called out several times for his behaviour in the jungle so far by ITV viewers, as well as fellow campmates.

The star has clashed with several campmates, including former Emmerdale star Adam Thomas.

The pair were said to have squared up to each other after Adam sneaked some chocolate back into camp, costing them a two star deduction for that evening’s meal.

David seemed visibly annoyed and was the first to react to the news, stating: “That’s gonna be tough for you today not eating Adam,”

Adam’s fellow campmates were quick to disagree with David, as Corrie star Beverley Callard piped up shouting: “Absolutely not!”

“David Haye is so rude! I don’t understand why he targeted Adam like that?!” one viewer wrote online.

Earlier this week, the star also angered fans over his ‘sexist’ comments about his girlfriend Sian and other women, speaking openly about the ‘Ugly Duckling’ syndrome.

Viewers took to social media to express their frustration, with many stating that if the show were open to public votes this time, they would vote him out.

“Everyone needs to vote David out”

Another viewer’s comment, which got over 1200 likes, read: “David needs to go, if it had been public vote he would have gone first! He’s making me not want to watch.”

The former boxer first participated in Series 12 of I’m a Celebrity, entering the jungle on Day in 2012 and placing 3rd.
