What to expect from Firebreak

The story centres around Mara (Belén Cuesta), who after the death of her husband, takes her eight-year-old daughter, Lide (Candela Martínez), to their family cabin to get it ready to sell.

Her brother-in-law, Luis (Joaquín Furriel); his wife, Elena (Diana Gómez); and their son, Dani (Mika Arias) also tag along for the trip, which marks their last chance to say goodbye to the place that Mara’s husband cherished dearly.

While Lide is opposed to selling the house, she takes comfort from her mother’s promise that the family will visit some of her dad’s favourite spots before they leave. But when a wildfire breaks out, they are ordered to evacuate.

The synopsis continues: “It’s only after the van is loaded that Mara notices Lide is missing. She frantically calls the police, who search for as long as they can before it becomes too dangerous.
