TV’s hit crime drama, Grace, has been greenlit for a seventh season. The Brighton-based detective series, which will return next year, stars John Simm as Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, who investigates puzzling crimes for the East Sussex police with the help of DI Glenn Branson (Richie Campbell).

The show’s renewal follows the major cliffhanger ending to season six, which saw Cleo kidnapped from her wedding to Roy while trying to protect Bruno.

The hit crime series, which has been hailed as “outstanding” by viewers, has become a staple of ITV’s drama slate since its premiere in 2021. This year alone, the show has been streamed 11 million times, with all six series drawing over 16.6 million views.

John Simm reprises his iconic role as Detective Superintendent Roy Grace. He will be joined by co-stars Richie Campbell as DI Glenn Branson and Zoë Tapper, who plays Cleo Morey.

What to expect from season seven

The upcoming series will feature four new standalone films, based on characters from Peter James’ bestselling Roy Grace novel series. This includes the titles, ‘When You Are Dead’ and ‘Picture You Dead’, with the remaining two titles to be confirmed.

Executive Producer Phil Hunter revealed that the new season follows on from Cleo’s kidnap and sees Grace and his team “under more pressure than ever for what promises to be another propulsive and explosive run of episodes”.

In a statement, John said of the show’s continued success: “Honestly, if someone had said we’d be doing this for seven seasons when we first started this in lockdown I would never have believed it.
