🚨 BREAKING: AFL Legend Shares Emotional Post-Sur-gery Photo After Near-Fa-t-al Truck Crash That Nearly Claimed His Life
Australian football legend Tony Modra has posted to Instagram one month after undergoing emergency facial surgery following a truck crash that almost claimed his life.
The 57-year-old was released from hospital three weeks ago but had laid relatively low until taking to social media on Tuesday.

Modra posted a photo alongside his wife and two children, where injuries to the left side of his head are evident.
The post also included a photo from the intensive care unit where Modra is being hugged by his family while lying in a hospital bed.
He was airlifted to hospital last month after the cattle truck he was driving collided with a tree, which smashed through the vehicle’s windshield.
“SA Ambulance Service, South Coast District Hospital & Flinders Medical Centre – saved my life, put me back together with a few titanium plates, got me home,” he wrote alongside several emojis.
“I’m getting out and about a bit now, and slowly catching up on everything I missed over the last month.
“I’m so humbled to learn how many people were cheering these incredible medical teams on… and our family too.
“I’ll never be able to thank everyone enough.”
The post attracted comments from the likes of Adelaide greats Rory Sloane and Taylor Walker, as well as the AFL club itself.
Former player Sloane wrote, “still as handsome as ever”, while Walker wrote simply, “love you”.
Modra received an outpouring of love from the sporting community following the crash.
His family described the crash as “a freak accident” and confirmed that Modra underwent two surgeries after being admitted to hospital.

Modra’s wife Erica was on the phone with him when his truck collided with the tree branch, with her son Luke using the Find my iPhone app to help direct emergency services to his location.
Modra played 118 games for Adelaide between 1992 and 1998, kicking 440 goals, before playing a further 47 for Fremantle, kicking another 148.
He was a two-time All-Australian star.
