🚨 FOR 17 HOURS… HE ALLEGEDLY REM-AINED INSIDE THE ROOM WHILE THE B0DY OF A 17-YEAR-OLD GIRL LAY IN A SUITCASE IN THE BATHROOM—UNTIL A SUDDEN KNOCK AT THE DOOR CHANGED EVERYTHING

Thailand’s sprawling sex industry has long attracted men from around the world, with young women lining the streets of its busiest tourist districts in search of customers.

The industry’s dark underbelly was thrust into the spotlight last week when Thai police arrested Australian expat Simon Peter Carman, 45, over the alleged murder of a local 17-year-old in Pattaya.

In the days that followed, more disturbing details began to emerge.

From the paltry 500 baht at the heart of the fatal encounter, to the 28-year age gap between Carman and the victim Tunchanok Donhomla, and the harrowing image of her body in a suitcase, each new detail has only deepened the horror of this case.

But the Daily Mail can now reveal Carman’s account to investigators of the 17 hours between Ms Donhomla’s death in his high-rise apartment and the dumping of her body in long grass.

Carman told investigators he spent the rest of the night sleeping just metres from the suitcase containing the teenager’s body, which he left in the bathroom of his tiny unit.

‘When he woke several hours later, he stripped his bedding, gathered up his laundry and left the apartment, leaving Ms Donhomla. He said he “put her away”, which is an odd way to word it,’ a police source in Pattaya told the Daily Mail.

‘Then he went about his day as though nothing had happened.’

After dropping off his washing at a nearby launderette, Carman stopped to chat with neighbours and his landlady before heading across the road for lunch.

According to a source who spoke to the Daily Mail on the condition of anonymity, nothing about his behaviour raised suspicion at the time.

‘He told me he was meeting a friend for lunch,’ the launderette owner said.

‘He left here to go across to the cafĂ©.’

Later, Carman said he received a call from the friend he had arranged to meet, who explained they were delayed and would not be returning to Pattaya for some time.

Carman claims he took that as an opportunity to return to Australia.

The friend had been storing belongings in his cramped apartment and, realising they would not be back to collect them, Carman instead said he was planning to fly home and they would catch up when he returned.

He then finished his lunch, spoke with regulars at the cafĂ© and, according to his account to police, spent the afternoon running errands before eventually returning to the apartment – where Ms Donhomla’s body was still in the bathroom.

‘When he got back, he booked his flight to Australia and then decided what he was going to do with the body,’ a police source close to the investigation told the Mail.

‘That evidence is pretty damning.

‘He didn’t bother calling authorities to show he was at least trying to take responsibility for what happened.

‘If you know you’ve done wrong and you admit you panicked in the moment, surely there’s a point where you calm down and decide you should own up to what you’ve done.

‘But he didn’t. He just carried on.’

The following morning, Carman packed his bags, ready to leave for Australia.

But by this time, Ms Donhomla’s disappearance had already aroused suspicion.

Later that day, a group of Ms Donhomla’s friends arrived at Carman’s apartment after becoming concerned when she failed to return to the beachfront after leaving with the Australian the previous evening.

Carman let them inside, where they questioned him about her whereabouts while taking photographs of him on their mobile phones.

In the images, Carman appears calm as the group searched for answers about their missing friend before leaving.

At about 5pm, Ms Donhomla’s friends reported her missing to local police.

By then, likely spooked by the women questioning him, Carman was already on his way to Bangkok airport, about 120km from Pattaya, to board a flight to Perth.

He never made it onto the aircraft. Police swooped at Suvarnabhumi Airport and arrested him moments before departure.

When later questioned about why he was leaving Thailand, Carman claimed to police he had only been returning to Australia to replace a lost bank card.

‘He told police he lost his debit card and was only heading back to get a new one,’ a source close to the investigation said.

‘He also said he was going to come back after a couple of days and hand himself in and take accountability.’
