Jessica Te Huia, 38, became an overnight celebrity when her former partner Levi Hilton burst into her bedroom in the early hours of June 1 and filmed her asleep in the same bed as his son from a previous relationship, Lorenzo Hilton.

On Monday, a furious Hilton posted the video to his public Instagram account, which had just a few thousand followers at the time, but within days the video had gone viral – being viewed millions of times and inspiring countless parodies.

In the chaotic clip, Hilton accused Te Huia and Lorenzo of having sex after finding them under the covers in their underwear, with McDonald’s strewn across the floor.

‘Why are you in her bed?’ he asked a bewildered Lorenzo, before turning the camera towards Te Huia and asking: ‘Are you having sex with my son? Are you? Why is my son in your bed? My 19-year-old boy… Proof’s in the pudding. You’re in undies with my son!’

Te Huia’s seemingly nonchalant reaction – ‘I’m not doing anything, bro’ – combined with her sleepy demeanour and fake eyelashes, became an instant meme.

The social media scandal spread like wildfire around the world – and in a series of interviews with the Daily Mail, Te Huia, Hilton and Lorenzo offered starkly different accounts of what really happened in the lead-up to the 4am bust-up.

But perhaps the most extraordinary revelation was that former stepmother and stepson hadn’t just slept together: they were a couple and very much in love.

But Te Huia has now confirmed that the fledgling romance is over almost as soon as it began. The reason for the split? The overwhelming stress caused by Hilton’s video, which had been posted without her or Lorenzo’s consent five days ago.

In a world exclusive interview with the Daily Mail on Thursday, she said fallout from the video had revealed Lorenzo wasn’t as mature as she had thought, so she made the difficult decision to end things.

Te Huia said that, in hindsight, her romantic feelings for Lorenzo had really been her gratitude for him protecting her as her rocky relationship with his father fell apart.

Te Huia, who split from Hilton two months ago after a 10-month relationship, had previously told the Mail there was another side to Hilton that people on social media don’t know about, and urged her critics not to rush to conclusions.

This publication notes that Hilton’s court record includes a string of appearances without details, though we make no suggestion of wrongdoing.

‘From a psychological perspective, it’s only natural that two people are going to be drawn [together in that situation]. Especially a woman who feels safe and loved and protected and has had a trauma bond experience,’ she said.

‘But the love that we had for one another, and how grateful I was for him being that person for me, I have made it very clear [to Lorenzo] that moving forward, we can’t have anything romantic,’ she added.

‘Since the video was released, there has been a huge change in the maturity perspective. I’ve noticed he can’t handle [it] – and you know, it’s hard for anybody to grasp, and I’ve really noticed the age difference.’

‘Jess holds a special place in my heart and I honestly love her more than anyone or anything in this world, Dad,’ Lorenzo had texted his dad.

‘I was always confused about the way you treated her the way you did after all she’s done for you… and I wished I could be in your shoes.

‘I know it’s weird but the heart wants what it wants, and I need to be mature about it or I’ll lose her and my family and it’ll all be for nothing.’

On Thursday, speaking to the Daily Mail from the Gold Coast, Te Huia said Lorenzo was holding out hope for a reconciliation – but she wasn’t sure what the future holds.

‘He’s asked me to give him two years to work on himself, to show me he can hold down a job and become successful,’ she said.

‘He said, “If I show you, if I can be the man that you want, can I come back and give it another shot?”‘

After catching Lorenzo and Te Huia in bed together, Hilton shared a screenshot of his son Lorenzo declaring his love for Te Huia via text message. Hilton replied: ‘Save it, mate’

When asked if she would wait for Lorenzo to grow up and mature, Te Huia replied, ‘Absolutely not.’ However, she wanted to make abundantly clear that her feelings for the teenager were always genuine.

Since Hilton’s video hit social media on Monday, Te Huia has been cruelly trolled online. There are videos circulating online of total strangers making baseless allegations that she is a predator.

Lorenzo is 19 – a legal adult. The Daily Mail also understands Te Huia only knew him after he was 18.

Te Huia previously revealed that she and Hilton had split up two months ago, and that her relationship with Lorenzo turned romantic three weeks ago.

She explained that Hilton had captured the viral video footage after breaking into her home and unlocking the bedroom door with a butter knife.

In an extraordinary admission, Hilton confirmed that this was true – and also said that he was subject to a protection order made on Te Huia’s behalf that remains before the court.

According to public records, the home is solely in Te Huia’s name – but Hilton insisted that he lived there.

Since the story hit headlines, the Daily Mail has revealed a dark twist to the scandal: Hilton posted a video to Instagram in which he allegedly threatened Lorenzo’s life.

‘Damn, my boy [has] been talking some s***. Acting like his father won’t f***ing “sleep” him,’ he said in a piece-to-camera.

‘I bought you into this earth and I’ll take you f***ing right out of it too, boy. I f***ing wrote the book, son.’

Hilton appeared to have deleted the video within hours.

When we contacted him on Wednesday morning to ask if he was aware he had allegedly posted a video that could be construed as a death threat, Hilton denied that it existed.

‘Nah. I didn’t… Not that I can recall,’ he said. ‘Is it still there?’

The Daily Mail understands police are now investigating the alleged incident as a matter ‘between father and son’.

Since the scandal broke, Hilton’s Instagram followers skyrocketed from 6,000 to more than 40,000.

But with the online fame comes scrutiny: Hilton has long been a fixture of Queensland newspaper headlines, with his troubles now resurfacing online.

In 2020, Hilton attacked police officers and paramedics on a Gold Coast highway.

In the subsequent court case in 2022, Hilton pleaded guilty to two counts of seriously assaulting a police officer and one count of serious assault of a public officer.

He was sentenced to nine months imprisonment with an immediate release on parole.

In January 2022, Hilton attacked an elderly retired police officer and army veteran.

According to the Courier-Mail, Hilton was acquiring a vehicle safety certificate from the 84-year-old in Waterford, Queensland, when a ‘dispute’ occurred.

The outlet reported Hilton had grabbed the victim’s hand in the process, which caused the victim to lose his balance and fall over.

Hilton pleaded guilty to one count of common assault and was sentenced to three months in prison, suspended for nine months.

The veteran said he had become ‘withdrawn and scared’ since the attack.
