In what can only be described as one of the most painfully awkward moments in recent Love Island history, tradie Aidan found himself in hot water after spectacularly mixing up the name of his current partner Yasmin with that of his ex, Ellie.

The cheeky contestant, who is currently coupled up with Yasmin, previously made moves on Ellie before she was dumped from the villa. Despite the history, Aidan chose to re-couple with Yasmin following a shock twist in which Ellie made a dramatic return to the villa alongside Aidan’s brother, Kavan.

However, it appears Ellie may still be lingering in Aidan’s mind. In a first-look clip from tonight’s episode, the pair were deep in conversation about Yasmin’s past relationships when the slip-up occurred.

“All my exes, like nothing bad happened, they all just fizzled out,” Yasmin told Aidan.

Curious, Aidan pressed: “Something must have happened, he must have done something?”

Yasmin replied that in her first relationship, her partner had cheated on her. Aidan responded with, “There you go,” before accidentally adding the killer line: “There we go Ellie.”

A visibly confused Yasmin immediately echoed, “Ellie?” prompting a mortified Aidan to correct himself: “Sorry! Yasmin.”

The Great Escape

What followed was pure fight-or-flight in action — and Aidan clearly chose flight. He attempted to pull Yasmin in for a hug, but she was having none of it. Moments later, the tradie bolted away in embarrassment as Yasmin held her head in disbelief, cringing at the monumental blunder. Co-star Lola stepped in to comfort her, while Mica was overheard yelling, “No Aidan!” in reaction to the name mix-up.

The moment has already sent social media into a frenzy, with viewers quick to point out the toe-curling hilarity — and what it might reveal about Aidan’s lingering feelings.

“CRYING AT AIDAN CALLING YAS ‘ELLIE’,” one fan wrote, while another simply summed it up: “THE WRONG NAME.”
