Police have released wild footage of a man firing several bullets at a suburban home in Melbourne.

The masked man can be seen exiting a black SUV and appearing to film himself firing a pistol several times before driving off.

No one was at the home on Elmwood Pla in Craigieburn at the time of the shooting, about 1pm on October 24.

While thankful no one was injured, Senior Constable Mitchell Jones said police were not notified of the incident until January.

The delay in launching investigations has meant a number of inquiries, including ballistics reports, have gone cold.

Jones added the people who own the home were “obviously quite shocked and concerned” but were happy to speak with investigators.

Police have released the footage in an attempt to make progress in the case.

He is described as wearing a wearing a black hooded jumper, black face mask, balaclava, black tracksuit pants with a grey waistband and black shoes with white soles
