New Details Reveal Troubled History Between Parents as Investigation Into 4-Year-Old’s De-ath Intensifies
New details have emerged about the history between Johmarea Harris and Michilae Herring as investigators continue the homicide investigation into the death of their 4-year-old daughter, Javeayah Harris.
Authorities have confirmed that Harris and Herring previously lived together in Clinton before moving to Aiken County. Records from the Clinton Police Department show one documented incident involving the couple in late 2025, which stemmed from a verbal argument at their residence.
According to the November 30, 2025, report, officers responded around 12:55 p.m. to a dispute involving the couple. Herring told police that Harris was packing his belongings and preparing to leave the home, but she did not want his mother and sister coming to pick him up because she said she had a restraining order against both women and they were not allowed near her.
Officers spoke separately with both individuals. Harris told police the couple had been arguing since the previous day and that the latest disagreement began over moving a table inside the apartment. He said he decided to leave and began gathering his belongings.
Harris told officers that his mother and sister were not coming to pick him up, but said Herring assumed they were. He later contacted a friend for transportation after explaining he had not made arrangements before police arrived.
The report states Herring later told officers she had calmed down and offered to drive Harris to his destination, but Harris declined. Both agreed to remain separated while waiting for his friend to arrive. No arrests were reported from the incident.
The newly revealed report comes as the investigation into Javeayah Harris’ death continues to draw widespread attention across South Carolina.
Aiken County Sheriff’s Office announced that Sheriff Marty Sawyer will hold a press conference tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. to provide an update on the case.
Chief Deputy Eric Abdullah said investigators appreciate the public’s support and the extensive media coverage but noted that protecting the integrity of the investigation has limited the amount of information authorities have been able to release.
The sheriff is expected to provide the latest developments during the briefing and will answer a limited number of questions from members of the media afterward.
I’m hopeful that authorities have located her remains. Today, law enforcement has noticeably reduced its presence near the Debutary Creek area, where they had been conducting searches over the last few days. What that change means remains unclear, but we should learn more tomorrow.
