Mug-sh0t Released: Man Faces Double M-ur-der Charges in De-a-dly July 4 Mass Sh00ting
CENTREVILLE, Miss. (WAFB) – Five suspects wanted in the deadly July 4th mass shooting in Centreville, Mississippi, are behind bars after coordinated arrests spanning two states, authorities said.
Law enforcement moved simultaneously in Louisiana and Ohio in the early morning hours of July 29, rounding up suspects wanted by the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office in connection with a shooting that killed two men and wounded seven others during a Fourth of July gathering.

Suspects tracked to Louisiana and Ohio
In Louisiana, the Louisiana State Police Fugitive Task Force said they arrested Kaden Anderson, 19, of Clinton, along with Zavier Augustine, Christian Johnson, and Zychavion VanNorman. All four were wanted for their alleged involvement in the mass shooting.
At the same time, the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Larry Smith Jr., 23, at an apartment complex on Burnham Drive on the west side of Columbus, Ohio. Smith was taken into custody on a fugitive warrant for murder. The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force had learned Smith fled to the Columbus area and called on the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team to make the arrest.
Smith is being held in the Franklin County jail pending extradition to Mississippi, where he faces felony charges including two counts of murder, seven counts of felonious assault, and 10 counts of drive-by shooting.
Two killed, seven wounded on the Fourth of July
The shooting unfolded in the early morning hours of July 4 near the Orchard Cafe on Highway 24 in Centreville. A call came in at 12:55 a.m. reporting multiple gunshot victims being rushed to a hospital in private vehicles.
Two men were pronounced dead at the hospital. The victims were identified as 19-year-old Dekevion Andrews and 22-year-old Donavan Jackson. Three others were transferred to an out-of-area trauma center. Four more were treated and released. The victims range in age from 14 to 20.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office led the investigation, ultimately securing warrants that led to Wednesday’s arrests.
