Major Breakthrough: Fourth Suspect Taken Into Custody After Fa-tal July 4th Sh00ting Sh0cked Community

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Police are asking for the public’s assistance locating a fourth suspect believed to be responsible for a deadly shooting on July 4 that killed an 18-year-old.

De’Onta Jay, 18, is wanted for the murder of 18-year-old Jamarion Snell. On July 4, at around 2:30 a.m., officers with the Dothan Police Department and Dothan Fire and Rescue responded to a reported shooting in the 800 block of Hutchins Street.

Upon arrival, they found Snell suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso. Snell was transported to a local hospital in critical condition before later dying from his injuries on July 8 despite lifesaving efforts by medical staff.

Three have already been arrested and charged with murder: 21-year-old Nazier Shamon Beachum, 20-year-old Jovontae Eldwon Lacey and 18-year-old Avaughn Ahmad Brown.

Now, a warrant has been issued for Jay’s arrest, and authorities are reaching out to the public for help. Jay is described by police as a Black male, approximately 6-foot and 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
