Graniteville Man Faces Attempted Mu-r-der Charge After Sh0cking Sh00ting Leaves Community Stunned
AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – A man has been arrested in connection with a June shooting in Aiken that left one person injured, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
Phillip James Upson Jr., 22, of Graniteville, was arrested on Wednesday, according to jail bookings.

According to the incident report, Aiken Department of Public Safety officers responded to the area of York Street and Rutland Drive near a Sunoco station on June 11 around 5:30 p.m. following reports of a shooting.
Officers say they initially located no evidence that a shooting had taken place beyond witness tips.
A witness told officers he was stopped in traffic on Highway 118 between KJs and the Sunoco when a male ran into the roadway from a car wash and began shooting at another vehicle before running back toward Crosland Apartments.
The witness says he drove into the area and observed the same subject come out of the woods and run down Brentwood Pl NE, then through more woods, according to the incident report.
He also reported hearing another volley of shots but could not identify where they were coming from.
Officers were also informed that one of the possible involved parties was on foot walking toward Paces Run Apartment Complex.
Officers located that individual and determined he was a victim of a gunshot wound. He was treated and transported to Wellstar MCG by EMS.
Shell casings were also discovered in the Paces Run parking lot, along Highway 118 between the car wash and Dollar General, and in the Crosland Apartments parking lot.
A juvenile is also listed as a suspect in the incident report.
Upson is charged with assault/attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to jail records.
