Dea-dly Street Horror Near Brisbane: Four Teenagers Face M-urd-er Charges After Violent Brawl Claims Young Man’s Life
Four young men will face murder charges in court over a death during a street brawl south of Brisbane.
Jongkuch Achieu, 21, was found with critical head injuries after a huge group of people descended on a wild party at a short-term rental home on Discovery Blvd in Bahrs Scrub on July 26.
Neighbours woke to wild scenes, with cars smashed up along the suburban street, which was littered with broken glass and furniture.
Paramedics found critically injured Achieu, from Redbanks Plains, on nearby Orchard Ave and gave him CPR.
He died in Princess Alexandra Hospital less than a week later.
Neighbours told 7NEWS at the time they had feared for their lives.
“It was pure chaos, they were running all over the place (and) smashing things,” one woman said.
Investigations led to five arrests in Logan, South Brisbane and Ipswich on Thursday.
An 18-year-old Collingwood Park man, an 18-year-old MacGregor man, a 19-year-old Doolandella man, and a 19-year-old Inala man were each charged with one count of murder.
A 22-year-old Heathwood man was also charged with one count contravening an order about information necessary to access information stored electronically.
They are all due to face court on Friday.
Queensland Police shared vision of officers bursting through the doors of several properties before making a number of arrests.
“I’m placing you under arrest for the offence of murder,” an officer says in one clip.
In another, police swoop on a person lying in a bed.
Police thanked members of the public for providing information critical to the investigation.
“Police particularly acknowledge residents, community leaders and representatives who have worked with investigators and encouraged members of the community to come forward with information,” Queensland Police said.
“The assistance provided to police, including information from members of the public, has been valuable to the investigation and demonstrates the important role the community plays in helping police investigate serious offences.”
