Community Shaken After Man Found De-ad From Gu-nshot Wound in Columbus, No Suspects Identified Yet

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus police are investigating a fatal shooting after a man was found dead Saturday morning along Lockbourne Road in south Columbus.
According to the Columbus Division of Police, officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of Lockbourne Road at approximately 8:51 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, after a caller reported discovering an unresponsive man lying in the area.
When officers arrived, they located the victim, later identified as Aaron Williams, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Williams was pronounced dead just four minutes later at 8:55 a.m.
Investigators said it remains unclear exactly when the shooting took place, as Williams was discovered after the incident had already occurred. Detectives are now working to establish a timeline by reviewing evidence collected from the scene, canvassing the surrounding neighborhood, and interviewing potential witnesses. #HandzWilliams
