She Took the Bullet for Her Baby: Mother Sh0t While Shielding 2-Year-Old Son in Ter-rifying Follow-Home At-tack
JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT/Gray News) – Mississippi authorities are investigating a shooting where a mother was shot in the leg while protecting her young son.
According to the Jackson Police Department, the woman was driving home Friday at about 4:30 a.m. when a person believed to be in a burgundy Honda began shooting at her.
Authorities said she was traveling with her 2-year-old son at the time of the shooting and attempted to get away from the Honda.
However, the suspect vehicle followed her home and continued shooting at her as she exited the vehicle with her son.
The woman was shielding her son when she ended up being struck by a bullet in her leg, police said.
The mother was taken to an area hospital for her injuries.
According to the woman’s family, they had just moved into the neighborhood, and neither she nor her husband knew why she was being shot at.
Authorities did not release any further immediate information about the shooting.
