Child Custody Exchange Turns De-adly: Man Sh0t and Ki-ll-ed Outside Cleveland Police Station
CLEVELAND (WJW) — A 29-year-old man died after a shooting in the parking lot of the 5th District Police Station in Cleveland early Wednesday morning following a child custody exchange that took a violent turn.
According to preliminary information from the Cleveland Division of Police, a child custody exchange was scheduled to take place in the police station’s parking lot.
During the exchange, a man, believed to be the child’s father, and two women, one of whom is believed to be the child’s mother, got into a verbal altercation, after which those involved left in separate vehicles.
Police said a short time later, they encountered each other again on a nearby street. At that point, the women attempted to return to the Fifth District police station.
“As they drove toward the district, it is believed the male intentionally rammed their vehicle. The females were able to enter the Fifth District parking lot; however, the male’s vehicle again made contact with theirs,” police said in a news release.
The two women and the child then attempted to enter the police station when the man got out of his vehicle and approached the women.
“During the ensuing encounter, shots were fired, and the male sustained multiple gunshot wounds,” the release said.
One of the women then entered the building and notified police.
Officers detained the woman and began rendering first aid to the man. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office identified him as 29-year-old Marcus Driggins Jr., of Cleveland.
“During the investigation, a firearm was recovered. Detectives assigned to the Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit are conducting interviews and collecting evidence to determine the sequence of events and the circumstances that led to the shooting,” police said.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
