In a video that has now become both a treasured memory and a heartbreaking final glimpse, three sisters — Jane Adetoro, Christina Walters, and Rebecca Walters — were captured laughing, splashing in the shallow waves, and taking carefree selfies on Brighton beach just hours before their bodies were recovered from the sea in a tragedy that has stunned communities in London and beyond.
The sisters, all from the Uxbridge area of west London, were found in the water near Black Rock car park early Wednesday morning. Their father Joseph has shared an emotional tribute, describing them as his “joy, strength, and the beautiful light” that filled the family with happiness, while a newly surfaced beach video reveals the pure joy they shared in what would be their final moments together.

Joyful Last Moments Captured On Video
The short video, believed to have been recorded on Tuesday evening, shows the three sisters in high spirits as they enjoyed the popular tourist beach. Jane, 36, Christina, 32, and Rebecca, 31, can be seen splashing each other with seawater, laughing freely, and posing for selfies against the backdrop of the iconic Brighton pier. Their smiles are radiant, their bond evident in every playful gesture — a snapshot of sisterly love and carefree happiness that makes the tragedy feel even more cruel and sudden.
Family members say the sisters had travelled to the East Sussex resort for what was meant to be a relaxing break. The video, now circulating among loved ones and shared in tribute posts, stands as the last known record of their time together — moments of pure joy before the events of that night unfolded. It has become a source of both comfort and sorrow for the family, reminding them of the light their daughters brought into the world.
A Father’s Heartfelt Tribute
Joseph Adetoro released a deeply moving statement, capturing the unimaginable pain of losing all three daughters. “Today, with a heart full of sorrow and love, I pay tribute to my beloved daughters — Jane, Christina, and Becky — whose lives ended so tragically far too soon,” he said. “No words can truly describe the pain of losing three daughters in the prime of their lives. Jane, Christina, and Becky were more than daughters to me; they were my joy, my strength, and the beautiful light that filled our family with happiness and love.”

He continued with personal words for each: “Each of you was unique and precious in your own special way. Your smiles brightened dark days, your laughter brought comfort, and your presence made life more meaningful. Jane, your strength and loving spirit will never be forgotten. Christina, your kindness and beautiful heart touched so many lives. Becky, your warmth and joyful soul brought happiness wherever you went. You were deeply loved, and you will always be deeply missed.”
Joseph spoke of the emptiness left behind: “The tragedy of losing all three of you has left an emptiness that words cannot heal. There are days when the grief feels unbearable, yet I hold tightly to the memories we shared — the laughter, the conversations, the love, and the bond that death can never take away.”
The family first shared an AI-generated photograph based on an earlier image of the sisters, later releasing a genuine photo from their teenage years so the world could see the warmth and closeness they shared in life. The beach video now adds another precious layer to those memories.
Police Investigation And The Mystery Of That Night
Sussex Police have confirmed there is currently no evidence to suggest criminality or third-party involvement, but specialist detectives are continuing extensive inquiries to understand how the women came to be in the water. Officers have reviewed hundreds of hours of CCTV footage and made door-to-door enquiries at properties and businesses around the beach to trace the sisters’ last movements.
They are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the three sisters around the Madeira Drive area between 10pm on Tuesday, May 12, and 5:30am on Wednesday, May 13.
Chief Superintendent Adam Hays said: “The thoughts of everyone at Sussex Police are with the family of Jane, Christina and Rebecca following this devastating loss. I know this incident has had a profound impact on the local community in Brighton, and across the country. We will leave no stone unturned in our investigation to understand exactly what led to the tragic events of that Wednesday morning. This investigation will continue in earnest, with Jane, Christina and Rebecca’s family at its centre. I would ask that they are given the privacy to come to terms with this terrible tragedy.”

A theory being examined by the Coastguard is that at least one of the sisters may have waded into the sea for a paddle but encountered difficulty when stumbling off a shingle shelf where the seabed drops sharply into deeper water. The shoreline off Brighton Beach is known for its steep underwater slopes, a hidden danger many visitors do not realise.
Community Support And A Call For Answers
The tragedy has shocked communities in Brighton and London, with many expressing condolences and offering support to the family. Brighton and Hove City Council leader Bella Sankey said: “My heart goes out to the friends and family of these women and on behalf of Brighton and Hove, I send sincere condolences.”

Labour MP Chris Ward for Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven described it as “deeply tragic news” and thanked the emergency services for their swift response and ongoing work.
As the family prepares to say their final goodbyes, the joyful beach video serves as a lasting reminder of the happiness the sisters shared. Joseph’s words and the community’s compassion offer a glimmer of comfort in the midst of sorrow. The sisters’ smiles, laughter, and the light they brought to their family will live on in the hearts of those who loved them.
The investigation continues, with police appealing for anyone with information to come forward. In the meantime, the family holds onto the precious memories captured in that final beach video — moments of joy that now stand as a beautiful tribute to three sisters who will forever be remembered for the love and happiness they shared.
