King Harald‘s state funeral is due to be held on 9 September after the former Norwegian monarch passed away at the age of 89 on 28 August.
Following his death, Harald’s son, King Haakon assumed the throne, with the new monarch declaring a period of national mourning that is due to conclude on 9 October, a month after Harald is officially laid to rest.
On Saturday, it was confirmed that Prince William and Princess Anne would be representing Britain at the state funeral. HELLO! understands that William will be representing King Charles at the funeral, with the sovereign typically not attending the funerals of other heads of state. Anne is due to appear in a personal capacity as the godmother of King Haakon.
One controversial attendee is the late King’s step-grandson, Marius Borg Hoiby, who was convicted of rape back in June. Marius is appealing the sentence, meaning that it’s not legally binding, and he has been granted permission to attend the funeral.
