BOMBSHELL CONFESSION: Robyn Langton Reveals Why Sam Workman Can’t Find Love – And It’s Not What Anyone Expected

Every year, Love Island delivers one or two Islanders who make viewers collectively clutch their iced coffees and whisper, “Why did they go on this show?” You know the ones: sweet, quiet, largely unproblematic, less intense with their game, and visibly allergic to confrontation. The kind of person who’d thrive on Hinge, but perhaps not in the emotional thunderdome of national television.

This series’ resident cutie pie is, without doubt, the lovable Sam Workman.

Aside from a chaotic 24-hour period juggling both Victoria Onanusi and Namibia Olpherts, on the whole, Sam has struggled to form a solid connection in the villa – leaving fans wondering if he’s unlucky in love (Island)… or simply out of his depth.

When dumped Islander Robyn Langton swung by heat Towers, we just had to ask. Robyn was, after all, the first girl to couple up with Sam – before friend-zoning him.

Robyn didn’t sugar-coat it. While she adores Sam and calls him “the best boy,” she believes the villa demands a very specific vibe that doesn’t quite match his personality.

“I think obviously Sam has been struggling to find a connection in there. I absolutely love him, he’s the best boy, but I genuinely believe you have to be a certain type or personality to be in that villa, I’m sorry. It’s so high intensity and there’s loads of massive characters and I think you’ve got to fit into that,” she explained.

“As much as I love Sam, he’s a gorgeous boy, he deserves the world, I just genuinely don’t think he fits in that bracket.”

It’s not that Sam isn’t gorgeous — he obviously is. It’s that Love Island is a loud, high-intensity personality pressure cooker, and that’s simply not him.

Ope Sowande, who also joined the exclusive interview, backed Robyn up. He agreed that the other lads can hold their own, while Sam “gets lost a little bit.”

“All us boys were, not boisterous and loud, but we can really hold our own and he just gets lost a little bit in there.”

Still, it’s not all doom and dumped for Sam. He did leave things steamy with bombshell Victoria Onanusi, who has already hinted she’d be open to seeing him on the outside.

In her exit interview, Victoria admitted they left things open — and even floated a potential double date with Angie Gunda, Sam, and Simba Kudyiwa.

So what does this mean for Sam’s Love Island journey?

While the villa’s relentless pace and larger-than-life personalities may have left him struggling to stand out, the outside world could be a very different story. Sam’s genuine, low-drama charm — the very qualities that make him feel slightly out of place in the villa — might be exactly what helps him thrive once the cameras stop rolling.

Fans will no doubt be watching closely to see if Victoria (or someone new) gives the “best boy” the connection he’s been looking for. Because if Robyn and Ope are right, Sam doesn’t need to change who he is — he just needs the right environment to let his quiet appeal shine.
