Lil Durk’s trial date has been pushed back to the end of the summer, but it could happen sooner if things go his way.

On Monday, February 23, the Chicago rapper appeared in court for a pretrial hearing for his murder-for-hire case. Durk is accused of paying five men to facilitate the murder of Quando Rondo in 2022. The men reportedly missed their target and killed Quando’s cousin, Lul Pab. Lil Durk was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Miami in 2024 and has been locked up ever since. After dealing with numerous setbacks, a judge has finally scheduled Durk’s trial date.

“Lil Durk’s trial moved to 8/25/26 at a hearing today, but there’s a catch,” Rolling Stone’s Nancy Dillon wrote. “If the judge grants pending motion from 3 co-defendants seeking to sever their cases from Durk’s trial, Durk wants to go sooner. The 8/25 date was set to accommodate defense for codefendant, not Durk.”

Lil Durk looked a lot different since he shaved his hair last year. According to Complex, he has a full beard and wore a white jumpsuit with grey sleeves. Durk’s father, Dontay Banks, along with “Power” stars Gianni Paolo and Kris D. Lofton were in the courtroom to support him. He was originally supposed to have his day in court last January, but it was postponed to October 2025. A few months before the trial began, a judge moved Durk’s trial to January 20, 2026. Nearly a week before the trial was set to begin, a judge granted a motion to push the date to April 21.

In recent months, Durk’s co-defendants have requested a continuance in the trial. Prosecutors have objected to the motion and the “All My Life” rapper’s lawyers don’t want any more delays. As of this report, the judge has not yet ruled on the co-defendants’ motion for a severance. If he grants the motion, then Durk’s trial would begin on the original date of April 21.
