The wife of alleged police shooter Dezi Freeman has pleaded with him to surrender and expressed sorrow for the two officers killed.

Amalia Freeman, 42, said Victoria Police had her “full support” in the search for her husband.

“My children and I respect the important work of Victoria Police and do not hold anti-authority views,” she said in a statement released on Saturday.

“We echo the requests of the Victoria Police for the swift and safe conclusion of this tragedy.

“I lend my full support to Victoria Police in their search for my husband and will co-operate with Victoria Police in any way that I can.”

She also issued a direct appeal to her husband.

“Please Dezi, if you see or hear this, call 000 and arrange a surrender plan with the police.”

Amalia paid tribute to the two police officers that were allegedly shot and killed by Freeman.

“On behalf of my children and myself, I wish to share our deep sorrow for the loss of the lives of Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson and Senior Constable Vadim De Waart,” she said.

“We are truly sorry for your loss, and the suffering and grief that the families, friends and colleagues of Detective Leading Senior Constable Thompson and Senior Constable De Waart are now experiencing.

“My children and I grieve for the loss of your loved ones.”

She also urged anyone supporting her husband to immediately contact police.

Freeman, 56, was wanted over alleged child sexual offences when police executed a search warrant at his Porepunkah property on Tuesday.

He allegedly shot dead Thompson and De Waart and injured another officer before fleeing on foot into bushland with an arsenal of weapons.

Amalia Freeman and the couple’s 15-year-old son were arrested during a raid on a Chandler Court property on Thursday night.

Both were interviewed by police before being released pending further inquiries.

Previously, a family member who wished to remain anonymous also distanced themselves from Freeman.

They told 7NEWS the alleged gunman had cut ties with them “in both name and ideology” a long time ago.

“The family are actively assisting police with their investigation and are providing details of our knowledge of the area and property,” the family member said.

“We are devastated, heartbroken and sickened by the loss of two police officers.

“Decades ago, Dezi detached himself from us in both name and ideology.

“We stand with the brave members of the Victoria Police and the families of the murdered officers.”

On Friday afternoon, a 61-year-old man was arrested at a property in Bright after a search warrant uncovered firearms and cannabis.

When asked whether the man was associated with Freeman, a Victoria Police spokesperson said that line of inquiry would form part of the interview conducted by detectives.

Freeman remains at large as of Sunday morning.
