King Charles and Queen Camilla shared a look of love in a glowing new portrait released to celebrate their state visit to the United States.

The King, 77, and Queen, 78, wrapped their joint trip to America on Thursday, April 30, and a new picture of them was shared on social media on the same day. The royal couple shared a smile as they looked at each other in the new image taken by Chris Jackson, and the photo came with a personal message credited to the King and Queen.

“🇺🇸 Farewell and thank you for the warmth of your welcome and the kind support you gave us throughout our first visit to the US as King and Queen, in this, your special anniversary year. We leave a piece of our ❤️ behind and take a little of yours back home with us,” began the caption shared to Instagram.

“Until the next time… God Bless America,” it continued.

The post was signed “Charles R. & Camilla R,” reflecting the couple’s regnal signatures representing “Rex” and “Regina,” which mean “King” and “Queen” in Latin.

A second slide in the post rolled to show an evening shot of the Empire State Building and JP Morgan Chase Tower in New York City illuminated in the red, white and blue hues of the U.K. flag, with the Statue of Liberty in between, in honor of the royal visit to the Big Apple on April 29.

Jackson also reflected on what it meant to take the picture of the King and Queen. The snap was captured in the Jackson Place Sitting Room of Blair House in Washington, D.C., before a mural of Washington landmarks.

“One of the unique aspects of being a Royal photographer is the opportunity to watch history unfold in real-time, witnessing in close proximity moments that are shared, analyzed and discussed globally,” he wrote on Instagram.

“Rarely have I felt this so strongly as on this State Visit as I listened to speeches and captured moments that will form the fabric of United Kingdom / USA relations for decades to come. Wrapping up such a historic trip with the extraordinary privilege of capturing this moment in time at Blair House with King Charles and Queen Camilla feels very special.”

King Charles and Queen Camilla toured Washington, D.C., New York City and Virginia during their four-day state visit to the U.S., which kicked off on Monday, April 27 and concluded on Thursday, April 30. The couple visited on the advice of the British government and at the invitation of President Donald Trump, in a trip commemorating America’s 250th anniversary of independence.

Highlights on the agenda included a military welcome on the South Lawn of the White House, a glittering state dinner hosted by the Trumps, a historic address by King Charles to Congress, a busy day in New York City and a festive block party in Virginia for America’s semiquincentennial.

King Charles then continued to Bermuda to undertake his first royal visit as monarch to a British Overseas Territory from Friday, May 1 to Saturday, May 2.
