The young man killed in the shocking hit-and-run involving British rapper Ghetts has now been identified as Yubin Tamang, a 20-year-old student whose bright future was cut short on the streets of Ilford, north-east London.
According to police reports, Tamang was struck on October 18, when a vehicle — allegedly driven by Ghetts, whose real name is Justin Clarke-Samuel — failed to stop after impact. Witnesses described a scene of chaos and disbelief as paramedics fought desperately to save the young man’s life.

Tributes have since poured in across social media, painting Yubin as a kind-hearted soul with “a smile that could light up the darkest room.” Friends and classmates gathered at the site of the accident, leaving flowers, photos, and handwritten notes expressing grief, anger, and disbelief.
One message read: “You didn’t deserve this, Yubin. You had so much left to live for.”
As news broke that Ghetts had been charged and remanded in custody, public reaction has been explosive. Fans of the rapper — once praised for his lyrical honesty and resilience — are now struggling to reconcile the man behind the music with the allegations at hand.
Yubin’s family, originally from Nepal, released a short statement through community leaders:
“Our son was loved deeply and had dreams bigger than life itself. No words can describe our pain. We ask for justice and privacy as we mourn.”
The case has reignited debate over celebrity accountability, with many calling for transparency in the ongoing investigation. Ghetts’ legal team has yet to release a detailed response, but sources say the artist is “devastated” and plans to cooperate with authorities.
For now, one truth cuts through the noise: a young life has been lost, and a family’s world has been shattered.
As the investigation continues and court proceedings unfold, the name Yubin Tamang will not be forgotten — a reminder of how one reckless moment can ripple through countless lives forever.
