‘BETTER BE READY TO HOLD YOUR BREATH’ — NEW TEASER FOR WWII THRILLER HAILED AS A ‘MASTERPIECE’ HAS FANS SAYING IT COULD BE THE CLOSEST THING TO ANOTHER OPPENHEIMER

Pressure: Andrew Scott and Brendan Fraser star in trailer

A brand-new trailer has been released for an upcoming WWII film rooted in a remarkable true story.

Pressure centres on the Allied Forces during the 72 hours preceding D-Day as they gear up for one of the most pivotal military operations of WWII, with the aim of turning the tide of the conflict, reports the Express.

Britain’s chief meteorological officer James Stagg (portrayed by Andrew Scott) is called upon to deliver the most crucial forecast in history.

His involvement brings him into direct conflict with Allied leadership, as unfavourable weather conditions could prove catastrophic for the largest seaborne invasion ever attempted.

Furthermore, any postponement of the mission risks Nazi intelligence uncovering the operation and dashing all hopes of triumph.

Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower (Brendan Fraser) ultimately bears responsibility for the final decision, yet he remains troubled by a disastrous D-Day rehearsal.

Eisenhower will lean heavily on his trusted aide and confidante, Captain Kay Summersby (Kerry Condon).

The film is being hailed as a “thrilling and revealing account of the three-day run-up to D-Day”. Pressure is adapted from the 2014 stage play of the same name by celebrated playwright David Haig.

While Pressure has already opened in US cinemas on May 29, British audiences must wait until autumn, with the film scheduled for release on September 9.

A fresh trailer has dropped, revealing escalating tensions as a fierce debate unfolds over whether to proceed with D-Day or postpone. Eisenhower and Stagg come to blows when the latter cautions the forces will be “washed away” if they advance to Normandy.

Against a backdrop of mounting urgency, confrontation erupts between the pair as Eisenhower demands: “Go or don’t go?”

Subsequently, Eisenhower asks: “Why should I trust you?” Stagg merely replies: “Because the wrath of nature is real.”

The film also features Band of Brothers and Billions star Damian Lewis as Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery and Sharp Objects actor Chris Messina as Irving P. Krick, Eisenhower’s trusted wartime meteorologist.

Pressure hails from the team behind the Oscar-nominated Darkest Hour and has already earned acclaim from IMDb viewers.

One reviewer proclaimed in their 10/10 assessment titled “exceptional”: “An amazing cerebral masterpiece.”

The user continued: “It was riveting. The D-Day scenes were squeezed into a few heart wrenching minutes, but watching the men who sent into battle was just as heart wrenching. Don’t miss this.”

A second wrote in their highly-rated critique: “Amazing! Must see this underrated story, movie is AWESOME.”

They continued: “The acting was fabulous and compelling.”

Another glowing review hailed it as the “best movie so far this year” with the viewer observing: “The movie was well casted, and the flow was very good for a war movie with not much warfare.” Another viewer ventured in their 9/10 review: “The Oppenheimer of this summer?”

They elaborated: “Pressure is what I wish all movies could be-perfectly written, directed, filmed, scored, costumed, set, and acted.”

Pressure is set to hit UK cinemas on September 9.
