A series of violent incidents unfolding across Mississippi within just a few days has left local communities stunned, with three brothers now facing serious criminal allegations in two separate cases involving the deaths of an elderly couple and the shooting of law enforcement officers.

The first incident occurred on June 3, 2026, in Simpson County. According to investigators, 17-year-old Cordarius Hobbs is accused of breaking into the home of Billy Blair, 74, and Virginia Carol Blair, 71. Authorities allege that the elderly couple was fatally attacked during the home invasion.

Following the incident, law enforcement officers launched a search for the suspect. Investigators say the case escalated into a prolonged armed confrontation during which Cordarius Hobbs allegedly opened fire on deputies. One deputy sheriff was injured during the exchange. After the standoff, the suspect was eventually taken into custody.

The deaths of the Blairs sent shockwaves throughout Simpson County, where residents described the crime as one of the most disturbing incidents the area has experienced in decades.

However, the violence did not end there.

Just five days later, on June 8, authorities became involved in another dangerous encounter involving two of Cordarius Hobbs’ brothers.

According to investigators, 19-year-old Cortavian Hobbs and 18-year-old Cortavius Hobbs were stopped by law enforcement in Covington County during what began as a routine traffic stop. Authorities allege that during the encounter, one or both suspects opened fire on a deputy sheriff.

The deputy was critically injured and required emergency medical treatment. Investigators say the suspects fled the scene, triggering an extensive manhunt.

Law enforcement agencies from multiple jurisdictions joined the search effort, which lasted approximately ten hours. The pursuit ended later that day when both brothers were located and arrested.

The second shooting intensified public concern across the region, particularly because it occurred so soon after the Simpson County case involving their younger brother.

Court records indicate that all three brothers have appeared before a judge following their arrests. In each case, bond was denied.

Officials have not publicly confirmed whether investigators believe the two incidents are directly connected beyond the family relationship between the suspects. However, the timing of the events and the allegations against all three brothers have generated significant public attention.

Community leaders and residents have expressed shock over the level of violence associated with both cases. Longtime residents have noted that crimes of this nature are exceptionally rare in the area, making the incidents even more difficult for many to comprehend.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate both cases, and additional charges could potentially be filed as evidence is reviewed.

Authorities have emphasized that the investigations remain active and ongoing. As with all criminal proceedings, Cordarius Hobbs, Cortavian Hobbs, and Cortavius Hobbs are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

For now, the two cases remain among the most closely watched criminal investigations in Mississippi, with communities across Simpson and Covington counties awaiting further developments.
