Strictly Come Dancing star Vicky Pattison admitted “I don’t think I’ll ever be happier” after receiving widespread praise for her performance.

As we reach the halfway point of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, 2015’s I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! Queen of the Jungle looks well-placed to make the final.

Her couples’ choice dance to fellow Geordie Cheryl’s 2009 solo smash Fight For This Love was a hit with the judges, but perhaps more importantly it won the approval of the Girls Aloud star herself.

Chatting to pal Angela Scanlon on their Get A Grip podcast, Vicky revealed that she had received a congratulatory message from the former Girls Aloud singer herself, and was absolutely delighted about it.

She said: “Honestly, my life’s made. I don’t think I’ll ever be happier.

“It was better than my wedding. I don’t think I’ll top it. Maybe having a kid might be better, but I don’t know.”

Cheryl’s message read: “First of all, I wanted to say congratulations on your Strictly success so far, you’ve been doing amazing.

“I’m very honoured and humbled to be your chosen icon for this week, and know you’ve got it in you because you’re a Geordie. So go out there, fight for your place, and I’m sending you loads of love. I’ll be rooting for you from home.”

Vicky joked that when she and husband Ercan Ramadan have a baby, she might well end up naming the child Cheryl “in homage” to her fellow Geordie.

Vicky added that while her performance this weekend might have looked tough and uncompromising, she’s still quite nervous on the dance floor. She said: “The woman who choreographed it, Beth Horn, she’s just an absolute powerhouse.

“She actually did the choreography for Cheryl’s dance on X Factor. She knows her stuff, she’s incredible. We had a FaceTime and she said ‘You need to fuck this up, Vicky. I want chin down, eyes burning, dance like you’re never gonna dance again.”

Beth not only crafted the moves for Cheryl’s Fight For This Love performance on the Brit Awards ceremony but has worked with a veritable who’s who of artists including Little Mix, Girls Aloud, Cheryl, One Direction, Olly Murs, Shania Twain, JLS, Robin Thicke, and Justin Timberlake.

Vicky said that while she tried to project the choreographer’ vision of “fierce power” she really just wanted to smile and have a nice time. It was “definitely out of my comfort zone,” she added.

She said that while she’s beginning to feel more confident on the dance floor, “it’s still such a scary place to be.”

Judge Shirley Ballas said it was Vicky’s “best dance so far” with the judges giving them a total of 33 out of a possible 40 points.

Vicky took to Instagram to talk to her fans about the performance. Alongside pictures of her and Kai on the dance floor, she wrote: “‘Anything that’s worth having is sure enough worth fightin’ for…

“I just wanted to say Thank you from the bottom of my heart… to you guys for all your kind words, the judges for their unbelievable scores which I never thought I’d get, to the powerhouse Beth Honan, thank you for your unbelievable choreography.. I hope I did it justice…”
