The Madison — the new series from Taylor Sheridan starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell — is drawing closer to its long-awaited debut.
The show will officially premiere on Paramount+ on March 14, just over a month from now.
The project was first revealed in 2024, when Michelle Pfeiffer became the first major star to officially sign on. Kurt Russell soon followed, alongside other familiar faces including Matthew Fox and Patrick J. Adams.
Set in Montana’s Madison River Valley, The Madison follows the Clyburn family, led by matriarch Stacy (played by Pfeiffer). According to Variety, the series is a deeply emotional exploration of grief and human connection, centering on a New York City family seeking healing and meaning in a remote landscape far from home.
The show marks the latest project from Taylor Sheridan, the creator behind Yellowstone, Landman, Lioness, Tulsa King, and Mayor of Kingstown.

Despite being announced years ago, The Madison remained largely under wraps for nearly two years. It wasn’t until early this year that the series resurfaced, briefly appearing in a Paramount+ preview showcasing upcoming projects. Shortly after, the first teaser trailer was released, along with confirmation of its official premiere date.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kurt Russell revealed several previously undisclosed details about the production. Most notably, two seasons of The Madison have already been filmed back-to-back.
Russell explained that the decision was driven by scheduling conflicts. At the time production was set to begin, he was committed to filming season two of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters for Apple TV+, and initially believed he wouldn’t be able to take on the role.
However, Michelle Pfeiffer and Taylor Sheridan worked with Paramount+ to devise an unconventional solution: filming two seasons consecutively and reorganizing the schedule so that all of Russell’s scenes for both seasons could be shot together. This ensured his continued presence across the series.
Each season of The Madison consists of six episodes. Russell described the show as “smart” and emphasized how different it is from Sheridan’s previous work.
According to him, the series is distinctly shaped by a strong female gaze, with a more emotional, nuanced perspective and carefully crafted writing. Russell also spoke warmly about his experience on set, describing the project as genuinely enjoyable to be part of.
He offered particular praise for Michelle Pfeiffer, expressing confidence that awards bodies will be paying close attention to her performance once the series is released.
The Madison will premiere on Paramount+ on March 14, and everything revealed so far suggests it may become one of the most distinctive and unexpected entries in Taylor Sheridan’s body of work.
