Sharing a carousel of pictures of his brother, David, over the years, Will told his 20.8K followers that he has “never felt sadness like this”.

The emotional tribute read: “David James Knight. My brother, my hero, my best friend. I’ve never felt sadness like this.

“Life seems completely numb without you. An absolute warrior to the very end. Multiple sclerosis cruelly stole your body but it could never take your beautiful soul.

“My heart will forever have a huge piece missing and not a day will pass where you’re not in my thoughts.”

His BBC Breakfast colleague Sally Nugent commented on the post: “I’m so sorry Will. Sending you and your family all my love x”.

Sky Sports host Hayley McQueen wrote: “I cannot imagine the hurt. I’m so terribly sorry Will. Thinking of you, sending strength and love.

Footballer Robbie Fowler was amongst the myriad of other stars, colleagues, sportspeople and fans sending their love to Will and his family.

Will has been presenting on screen for over a decade and often covers premier league football.

He has been a regular on Final Score, a BBC show which runs through the football scores on a Saturday afternoon, since 2010.
