Superintendent Chris McKinnon said police believe the two men were known to each other and the victim suffered serious head injuries.

He said a woman who was with the men drove the victim to Thora to seek medical attention. Police and paramedics attended about three hours after the alleged incident took place.

“We believe that the victim did live nearby,” he said.

“Police arrested a 26-year-old male who was walking along a road in Ebor.

“That male, we believe, is also from the Thora area and was known to the victim.”

Mr McKinnon said a man drove the alleged offender to Waterfall Rd, near the Point Lookout Rd intersection, before he was arrested by police.

“Police were advised by a member of the public that there was a male walking along a road,” he said.

“We’re unsure at this stage how he got from that location to where he walked, but it’s certainly a distance that could be walked over a number of hours.”

An investigation into the incident remains ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
