The Princess of Wales returned to one of her go-to fashion tricks

Kate Middleton embraced a familiar outfit strategy this Easter.

On Sunday, April 5, the Princess of Wales stepped out for the Easter Matins service at St. George’s Chapel, located on the grounds of Windsor Castle, alongside husband Prince William and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Princess Kate, 44, wore a cream-colored ensemble, which included a dress from the label Self-Portrait (designed to look like a jacket and skirt combo) and a matching fascinator.

Kate’s outfit choice continued one of her most notable Easter style traditions: recycling items already in her closet.

The Princess of Wales first wore the cream coat dress for a 2022 outing with Princess Anne, when she paired it with a matching purse and shoes.

She freshened up the ensemble for Easter by adding a matching hat and the late Queen Elizabeth’s Bahrain Pearl Drop earrings.

For Easter in 2019, Princess Kate wore the same dove gray Alexander McQueen coat dress and Jane Taylor hat that she wore on a 2014 Easter trip to Australia during a royal tour of the Commonwealth realm.

She wore recycled coat dresses again for Easter church services in 2018 and 2017. She opted for a brown Catherine Walker coat dress for the holiday in 2018 when she was nine months pregnant with Prince Louis, refreshing a coat dress she previously wore in 2015, when she was expecting Princess Charlotte. And in 2017, she wore a cream Catherine Walker coat dress that she had worn for a royal tour of Canada with William, George and Charlotte two years earlier.

However, this year, Princess Kate opted not to go for one of her traditional Easter style go-tos: the color blue.

In recent years, the hue has been her color of choice for the holiday. During her most recent public appearance for Easter in 2023 (the family celebrated privately in 2024 and 2025), she wore a royal blue Catherine Walker & Co coat dress with a coordinating hat and handbag. (That coat dress was recycled, as she previously wore it to the 2022 Commonwealth Day Service.)

That year, her husband and their children also wore blue ensembles, with navy suits for Prince William and Prince George, a blue dress, tights and coat for Princess Charlotte and a navy blazer with lighter blue shorts and knee socks for Prince Louis, who made his Easter debut at the service.

In 2022, Kate, William, Charlotte and George also coordinated in blue hues for the Easter Sunday service at St. George’s Chapel. Kate recycled a pale blue coat dress by Emilia Wickstead that she first wore in Luxembourg in 2017 and paired it with a matching blue headband, clutch and heels.

While her family again matched in blue for the 2026 Easter outing, Princess Kate popped yet coordinated in her cream ensemble.
