David Muir is being commended by fans after showing the “devastating” effects of the Arizona wildfires.

The ABC World News Tonight host has been getting praised for his “outstanding” reporting after being mocked by Megyn Kelly. He has now stepped it up and brought hard-hitting footage to his viewers, with on-the-ground coverage of devastating grounds like the wreckage from the Texas floods that ran through Camp Mystic and killed over a 100 people.

During David’s latest segment on Monday, July 14, the 51-year-old host covered the recent Grand Canyon wildfire with the same precision, causing fans to applaud his efforts.

Over the weekend, two wildfires engulfed the national park, specifically the North Rim, destroying up to 80 structures, including the historic Grand Canyon Lodge.

The new segment revealed, “The fire, dubbed by officials as the Dragon Bravo Fire, has scorched over 5,700 acres and is being fueled by extreme summer heat, low humidity and strong winds.”

All staff and residents were “successfully evacuated” prior to the incident, so no deaths or injuries have been reported.

The lodge, which first opened in 1937 and is listed as a National Historic Landmark, is being remembered by viewers of the show.

One admitted to being “heartbroken,” as they explained, “ stayed in the lodge last year at this time. It was magically magnificent. It was a bucket list trip. I kept saying, if not this year, then when? Glad I have my memories.”

Accompanied by two tearful emojis, another added, “So Devastating!”

Last week, the host’s efforts were also recognized by fans. While giving fans an up-close look at the tragedy that was the deadly Texas floods, others rushed to X, saying, “ABC World News-David Muir, that is so good of you to be reporting from Texas. Be careful.”

“David Muir offering more consolation to the people of Texas than the president of the United States,” someone wrote.

The anchor has been with the network since 2013. He took over for Diane Sawyer when she had stepped down a decade ago.

While speaking to People, David disclosed the reason he’s continued to elevate his coverage.

“I think it’s really important to continue to try being better,” he confessed. “The moment you stop learning, the moment you’re no longer curious, the moment you don’t believe you can be better than you were a night ago or a week ago, is probably a time to sort of check yourself.”

“I love this job,” he mentioned. “I love the people that I interview and get to meet, and I think that journalism is more important than ever.”
