The Alexandria Police Department announced Wednesday that detectives have arrested two people in connection with the death of Jakoby Kahey, who was reported missing on July 5. Investigators say evidence uncovered during the investigation indicates Kahey was the victim of foul play.

Police arrested 20-year-old Taylor Jenkins in Killeen, Texas, and 25-year-old Daviyone Mock in Alexandria on July 8. Both have been charged with second-degree murder.

Although investigators have determined that Kahey is deceased, his remains have not yet been located. Detectives continue following investigative leads as they search for his recovery.

Police also said additional charges and arrests remain possible as the investigation continues.

“This is a heartbreaking case for Mr. Kahey’s family, and our thoughts remain with them during this incredibly difficult time,” Alexandria Police Chief Chad Gremillion said.

“While these arrests represent significant progress, our work is far from over. We remain committed to locating Mr. Kahey’s remains, bringing every person responsible to justice, and providing his family with the answers and closure they deserve. We ask anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward and help us complete this investigation.”

Public jail records reviewed by UrbanCast show Taylor Jenkins is currently being held in the Bell County Jail in Texas following his arrest in Killeen. The booking record lists Fort Hood (Fort Cavazos) Confinement as the booking origin, indicating he is being held pending extradition proceedings to Louisiana. As of publication, the Bell County booking record does not yet reflect the Louisiana murder charge.

Meanwhile, Daviyone Mock had not yet been booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center at the time of publication. Booking information is often delayed following an arrest in major investigations.

No booking photographs of either suspect were publicly available at the time this article was published.

The Alexandria Police Department credited the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) at Fort Cavazos and the Louisiana State Police for their assistance throughout the investigation. Officials said their professionalism, cooperation, and coordinated efforts were instrumental in advancing the case and taking the suspects into custody.

Detectives continue asking anyone with information about this case to contact the Alexandria Police Detective Division at (318) 441-6416 or APD Dispatch at (318) 441-6559. Information may also be emailed to [email protected].

This remains an active and ongoing investigation.

Today also marks an incredibly difficult day for Ms. Jackie Chapman, mother, Jakoby’s family, and everyone who loved him. What began with hope for his safe return has ended in unimaginable heartbreak. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with his mother, family, and friends as they grieve this devastating loss.

We also recognize the thousands of people across Central Louisiana and beyond who shared Jakoby’s missing person information, offered prayers, and helped keep his story in the public eye. Every share, comment, and tip helped ensure his disappearance received widespread attention and demonstrated the strength of a community coming together during a family’s darkest hours.

Finally, we commend the Alexandria, La Police Department, along with its local, state, and federal law enforcement partners, for their determination and resolve throughout this investigation. While the search for Jakoby’s remains continues, these arrests represent a significant step toward justice and, hopefully, bringing him home to his family.
