Missing Young Mother Jana Armstrong Found De-ad After Five-Day Search, Ex-Partner Faces Mu-r-der Charge

The body of missing Brisbane mother Jana Armstrong has been found dumped beside a rural road west of the city, with her ex-partner now charged with her murder.

The 30-year-old disappeared from her home five days ago, leaving behind her four-month-old baby boy and sparking desperate pleas from her family for information.

Her body was discovered on a steep hillside by a winding rural road an hour north of Toowoomba, bringing a heartbreaking end to the search.

“We are shattered, we are broken,” her heartbroken family said. “It’s not the breakthrough we wanted at all. But it’s answers, it’s something. We knew deep down she was never coming home to us.”

Following the discovery, police moved quickly to arrest Armstrong’s former partner, Dharminder Singh, who 7NEWS had tracked down in his final days of freedom.

It’s alleged he had already killed Armstrong before speaking to media.

“I just don’t want him to have another day of freedom,” Armstrong’s sister Faith Isaacs said.

According to police, Armstrong died between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning, when her car was found abandoned in the middle of a road. Singh is accused of using that vehicle to transport and dump her body.

Police searched multiple locations and her family conducted their own searches. There were public appeals, but in the end it was a group of young pig hunters who delivered the breakthrough, with their dogs finding her remains.

As officers were breaking the news to Armstrong’s family, community volunteers were gathering to look for her, unaware the search was already over.

“We can now take her to a resting spot next to mum and dad,” Isaacs said.

Isaacs is already grieving the death of her three-week-old girl, now forced to endure another devastating loss.

“She’s taking care of my daughter and I’m now taking care of her son and I’ll raise him just the way she would have wanted me to,” she said, determined Armstrong’s baby boy will always know how deeply his mum loved him.

Singh will face court on Monday.
