MEGGING A RETURN

Meghan Markle ‘to return to UK in weeks’ alongside Prince Harry, Archie & Lilibet for Invictus Games event

PRINCE Harry is reportedly set to return to Britain with Meghan Markle and their two children in just a matter of weeks.

The Sussex family is expected to travel from Montecito, California, for the Duke’s one-year countdown party for the Invictus Games, which were set up by Harry for wounded soldiers.

Bronte Coy reports for News.com.au that a source close to Harry said he had felt “great sadness” at being unable to safely bring his wife and children to the UK in recent years.

It comes after The Sun first reported in January that the Duchess was plotting a summer trip to the UK.

“It’s been a real point of great sadness – for Harry especially – that he’s been unable to bring his wife and kids back to the UK safely to reconnect with friends and family, but anyone would understand his desire to put their safety first,” the source said.

The insider said Harry has long wanted Archie and Lilibet to experience the country where he grew up and meet more of their relatives.

They added: “He would love to introduce the children to his wider family, to show them the UK, where he grew up – his homeland.

“That would be a natural thing for any parent.”

Though uncertainty still surrounds whether the family’s return to the UK this summer would be possible after the Prince was stripped of his police protection when visiting the UK.

In May 2025, it was confirmed Prince Harry lost his multimillion-pound fight for protection on British soil after his round-the-clock royal protection was axed in the wake of Megxit.

But a Royal source has told The Sun that conditions – whatever they may be – for a safe return have been met.

The Duke of Sussex had declared “my life is at stake”, bizarrely claiming to be the victim of an establishment stitch-up and said he “can’t see a world” in which he would bring his wife and kids back to Britain.

Harry claimed stripping him of his security was a plot to force him and his wife Meghan back to Britain.

Harry has returned to Britain several times since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, but Meghan and the children have almost always remained in California.

He returned to the UK for his two-day hearing at the Court of Appeal in London.

While it has been nearly four years since Meghan last set foot in the UK.

She and Harry were in Britain for a series of engagements in September 2022 when Queen Elizabeth II died, leading them to extend their stay for the period of national mourning.

The upcoming trip would be Meghan’s first major public return to the UK since attending the Queen‘s funeral.

But the insider insisted the Duchess has no concerns about how she would be received.

While Archie spent much of his first year living in Britain, Lilibet was born in California after the couple’s move to the US.

Her only visit to the UK came in 2022, when she celebrated her first birthday with family and friends at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

That trip also marked the only time King Charles has seen his grandchildren in person since Harry and Meghan relocated across the Atlantic.

The family visit comes amid continued efforts to repair relations between Harry and his father.

Last September, Harry and the King held a long-awaited reunion at Clarence House during one of the Duke’s visits to Britain for charity work.

Although the meeting was brief, it was their first face-to-face encounter in 18 months and raised hopes that ties between the pair could begin to heal.

The Invictus Games is Prince Harry‘s signature charitable initiative and a project deeply personal to his life and military career.

He founded the multi-sport event in 2014 to support the recovery, rehabilitation, and post-traumatic growth of wounded, injured, and sick (WIS) service personnel and veterans.

The event will next take place in Birmingham from July 10 to 17, 2027.

The opening ceremony will kick off the week on Saturday, July 10, concluding with a closing party on July 17 for competitors, friends, and family.
