Strictly Come Dancing delivered its annual tribute to Remembrance Sunday this weekend, with viewers once again moved by the emotional routine.
In what has become a tradition for the BBC show, the professional dancers delivered a moving nod to the armed forces, accompanied by music from the Band of the Royal Air Force Regiment.
The dance, set to the Sam Fender song Remember My Name, saw Lauren Oakley and Aljaz Škorjanec take centre stage before being joined by all of the professionals in a ballroom routine.
While many fans praised the dance as ‘absolutely beautiful’, others were confused to see Amy Dowden join them, after she shared on social media earlier this week she’d undergone a second mastectomy.
Of course, this year’s Strictly professional performances are pre-recorded months in advance, with many of the numbers for this series filmed back in August.
Sunday’s Strictly results also saw Gladiator Harry Aikines-Aryeetey become the latest star to be eliminated, after he lost out to La Voix in the dance-off.

Following the dance, fans praised the moving routine, with posts on X saying: ‘For all everyone who gave their lives, a beautiful tribute. Thank you is never enough to all who served for our country.
‘Not one for sentiment when it comes to war but brass bands really do choke me up
‘This remembrance dance is lovely!
‘The pro dance was so lovely, made me feel emotional.
‘That was a beautiful pro dance and the music was spot, can’t believe I’m now in tears over Strictly. I almost never cry, yet I’ve cried two shows in a row tonight!
‘Such a lovely and amazing #RemembranceDay dance from the professionals as always huge well done to them and the incredible band as well.’
However, several then noted Amy’s presence in the routine, given she’d shared over the weekend she’d had a second mastectomy.
Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2023 and underwent treatment including a mastectomy, chemotherapy, fertility treatment and shared she almost died of sepsis during the treatment.

They posted on X: ‘Amy dancing, recorded in August then, hate these ‘Sunday’ shows and dances recorded months ago.’
‘Was that Amy in the remembrance dance?’
On Saturday, Amy told her followers that she’d returned home after undergoing her second mastectomy.
The BBC star flashed a small smile to the camera as she sat on her sofa in her pyjamas with a cup of tea.
In a second photo, Amy snapped a selfie as she was joined by family and friends during the recovery.
She wrote: ‘Home, resting up, still got my drain in but rrrrrready for the best entertainment and medicine there is for me…..
‘Good luck everyone. Cheering you all on from home! Lots of luck and love xxxxx’
On Sunday, Harry was the latest contestant to be eliminated from this year’s Strictly.
Following a dance off with La Voix and her partner Aljaž Škorjanec, which the judges branded the most ‘difficult’ head to head to vote on yet, the judges unanimously saved the Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK star and Harry was sent home.
Both couples performed their routines again, with La Voix and Aljaž first taking to the dancefloor to perform their Foxtrot to Make Your Own Kind of Music by Cass Elliot before Harry and Karen Hauer danced their Samba to Samba by Gloria Estefan.
After both couples had danced a second time, the judges delivered their verdicts – with Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke and Craig Revel Horwood all saving La Voix and Aljaž.
Motsi Mabuse, who this week had the casting vote, agreed with her fellow judges and said she would have decided to save La Voix and Aljaž.
When Tess asked Harry about his time on the show, the Olympian and Gladiators star said: ‘I think, first things, I just want to thank Karen, genuinely, you have given me an opportunity to shine.
‘You’ve understood my crazy brain. I’m such a logical person, trying to dance – and obviously doing what I do – Olympic sprinter, Gladiator – now I’m trying to be a dancer.
‘I just want to thank you so much for the time and effort, the hard work that you’ve given to me. You show up, you turn out.’
He added: ‘I want to thank everyone here. Literally, this has been a dream come true. This is a celebration. It’s a celebration.
‘I spoke to my daughter and she didn’t like seeing her dad sad, and when she saw me sad last week, she was like, “Daddy what’s wrong?” and I wanted to show everyone that, no matter what happens, there’s always a silver lining.
‘But this is an experience for me. So, thank you for this lovely gift, and at the end of the day, we carry on, we give it to them, and we continue to shine. Do you know what I mean?’

Tess then asked Karen how proud she is of Harry, to which she replied: ‘I am extremely proud. We’ve had the best time.
‘You’re such a gentleman, you’re a hard worker, you listen, and you get into those times where I don’t know what you were thinking.
‘But you know what? I loved you in every kind of way because of the person that you are, and it was an honour to teach you, so thank you so much.’
Sunday’s results show also featured a musical performance from James Morrison of Fight Another Day, accompanied by a routine from Jowita Pryzstał and Neil Jones.
Both of this weekend’s episodes are available to watch now via BBC iPlayer.
