Detectives and forensics officers returned to the scene throughout the day to collect more evidence and security camera footage.

The victim was taken with life-threatening injuries to The Alfred Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

A 38-year-old South Yarra woman was arrested on Sunday and charged with intentionally causing serious injury, recklessly causing serious injury and failing to comply with a direction to assist.

Police say the pair knew each other.

The woman was remanded in custody to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
